Boulder Creek Road is a well-maintained road that is goes from Oak Grove Drive, just west of Descanso to Eagle Peak Road, just southwest of Julian. It is unpaved for 13 miles, starting at about 5 miles from the Descanso end. If you are in a passenger car some parts may start to look like you are getting in over your head. However, barring unrepaired damage, you will have no problem.

About 13 miles from the Descanso end, at the hairpin turn, is the trail to Three Sisters Falls. This is also the junction with Cedar Creek Road.

As of November 2011 parts of the road are being covered with recycled tarmac, much-improving the surface.
