Professional Speedway motorcycle racing has a long and rich history at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, California. The first modern United States National Championship was held at this very racetrack way back in 1969 and the actual racing surface has changed little since then.

Since 1969 the weekly Speedway motorcycle races at Costa Mesa Speedway have been the place to be. During the first few decades, racing took place on Friday nights. In recent years, it has been changed to Saturday nights.
