Fonts Point Trail is one of the easier and more popular trails in the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. You require a 2WD to run on this course as the terrain is soft sand for the whole trail. You can even choose to drive a passenger vehicle but only if you can navigate it on the soft terrain.

In terms of driving directions this one is easy as well. You begin at S22 near the Fonts Point Wash. On the road you will encounter a number of forks but they all meet within a short distance so you cannot really loose your way. There is a side trail, the Short Wash 4WD Trail that runs from here.

The trail is a short one and ends in a loop below Fonts Point. You need to walk up a little to get some great views of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park encompassing the Borrego Badlands. The Vallecito Mountians and the Borrego Valley can be seen from here with their washes, eroded canyons, the oasis of Borrego Springs, the Peninsular Range, Borrego Buttes and Pinyon Mountains. As you view the terrain remember that these sedimentary rocks go back about 250 to 4 million years!
