This high pass connects Breckenridge and Jefferson -- it connects I-70 to Highway 285. Situated parallel and between Boreas Pass and Webster Pass, it is also between them in difficulty. It is more challenging than Boreas Pass but not as challenging as Webster Pass.
The trail is easiest if you start from Jefferson and Highway 285. This route takes you uphill on the less extreme side (the east side). This uphill is more gradual, though it is steep.
The west side of the trail is much more steep, with some whoopdeedoos and small rocks. If you want to make the trail as challenging as possible you should start from Breckenridge.
Starting from Jefferson, you wind your way to the top of the pass in 12 miles. The trip to the top is usually wide enough for other vehicles to pass and it is fairly smooth.
At the top there is a sign noting you are at Georgia Pass. It is in a large meadow in the shadow of Mount Guyot. From this meadow you can go in a number of different directions. If you are facing the Georgia Pass sign you will have the trail you just came up at your far left. The trail continues to your right, down to Breckenridge.
There is also a trail nearly straight ahead, a little to the left of the sign. This road goes toward Mount Guyot.
Behind you is a trail marked "Glacier Ridge." It is more difficult than the Georgia Pass trail, but not extremely difficult. Follow this trail to climb a steep, loose hill to Glacier Ridge and a gorgeous view.
There are lots of trails in this area and many places to explore.
If you follow the trail down to Breckenridge you will notice it gets a bit more difficult. It is steep and loose in many spots, but not too difficult for a stock 4x4 vehicle. Keep on Forest Service road 355 the entire way, continuing to descend to the bottom of the pass.
