The Mojave Desert is a large desert that is made up of a large portion of southern California and smaller parts of southwestern Utah, southern Nevada, and northwestern Arizona. It is over 22,000 mi² (35,000 km²) in size. The topographical boundaries include the Tehachapi Mountains together with the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountain range. Elevations range from almost 12,000 ft at Charleston Peak down to Death Valley, which is below sea level.

There are many, many off-road trails and open-use areas throughout the Mojave Desert.
