Winding stairs road is a fairly easy trail just off of Rampart Range Road. It connects with Ice Cave Creek Road to form a fun loop. This area is great for new off road enthusiasts who are still learning about their vehicle. About 3 miles from the trail head is a spur road off to the right. This road is more moderate and dead ends after about 1.5 miles. There's a great spot near the end of this spur for a picnic, if it's not too windy.
The difficult section of Winding Stairs road was closed as of March 21st, 2009. It it unknown if that section will re-open.
