Yankee Boy Basin is one of the most famous areas to visit near Ouray, Colorado. In the spring and early summer (it usually opens in April or May), the snow runoff fills the river and waterfalls to the brim – it’s quite a sight! Later in the summer (June – July), Yankee Boy teems with thousands of wildflowers.

With all this beauty, you should expect quite a bit of traffic, especially on the weekend. Be prepared to pull over to let others pass in the narrower areas of the trail.
